FBI Reports Huge Increase In Number Of Sexual Assaults On Flights

The world gets a little bit smaller every day with flights connecting every country on the planet. Hopping on an airplane is easier and cheaper than ever before, but are passengers safe from sexual predators? The latest report released by the FBI suggests that more predators are taking to the sky than ever before.

Sexual Assaults On Flights Nearly Double

According to the FBI, the number of sexual assaults that have been reported on flights since 2014 has increased by 66%. Sadly, it is speculated that, like sexual assaults that take place on the ground, only a very small percentage of assaults are actually reported.

The FBI has indicated that majority of assaults take place on red-eye flights that are three-hours or longer. The organization is hoping that by raising awareness, victims can get the help that they need and future assaults can be prevented.

Airlines are also being encouraged to create sexual assault awareness programs for flight attendants so that if an assault is reported mid-flight, the appropriate actions can be taken to preserve evidence and protect the victim.
